Participants discover how to: Recognise stress symptoms before they become an issue Develop control of stress physiology to build core resilience Build long-term stress resilience and reduce situational stress throughout the day Practice simple and practical resilience techniques, and Integrate resilience techniques into their working and personal lives.
Workshop 2: Performance & RecoveryFrom an early age humans are taught to strive, achieve and succeed, and we have become experts at getting things done. However, science consistently demonstrates to us that this achievement comes at a cost, and we only have to look at the increasing incidence in our society of health conditions such as anxiety, insomnia, type-2 diabetes, fatigue and burn-out to understand the long-term impacts of constantly striving for more. The question to ask ourselves here is this: is it possible to get everything done that we need to do AND maintain our physical and psychological health? The good news is that the answer is YES! In this workshop participants learn: - The importance of relaxation and recovery in sustaining optimal health and performance
- How to maintain a balance between busyness and rest
- Breathing techniques for relaxed alertness and increased stamina, and
- How to integrate breathing techniques into the working day.
Workshop 3: Fuelling the MindThe function of the digestive system is negatively impacted by prolonged or excessive stress. This can lead to a range of stress-related health conditions including diabetes, IBS, ulcers, digestive disorders and skin conditions. Poor digestive function can also affect your ability to perform well at work: fatigue, lack of motivation, poor concentration and cloudy thinking are the direct result of inefficient digestion. Our physical and psychological health are also affected by the type and quality of the foods we eat. Some foods leave us feeling tired and sluggish, while others make us feel agitated or over-stimulated. However, there are a range of foods that boost brain function, helping us to think more clearly and make better decisions. These foods leave us feeling calm, alert, refreshed and energised. In this unique resilience workshop, participants: Explore the relationship between nutrition and stress Learn nutritional strategies for boosting vitality, motivation and productivity, and Develop a workplace food plan for increased clarity and sustained concentration.
Workshop 4: Resilient ThinkingHigh performers are resilient thinkers. They have the capacity to keep their attention focused on what is important, and not be distracted by trivial things or their own mental chatter. They stay calm under pressure, and come up with rational and practical solutions to the challenges they face. They're naturally able to keep their attention firmly focused on what they're doing, and they're able to switch their attention between tasks with ease. We can train ourselves to think in a more resilient way by learning and practising the skill of mindfulness. Mindfulness is the skill of paying attention to what is happening within and around us, rather than being lost in the chatter of our minds. Through mindfulness we develop the capacity to manage our thoughts more effectively, and become more discerning about which thoughts we engage in and which thoughts we let go. Mindfulness allows us to control our thoughts, rather than allowing our thoughts to control us. Topics covered in this workshop include: Presenteeism and its effects on health, performance and workplace relationships Mindfulness theory, benefits and applications in the workplace Use of mindfulness to manage unwanted thoughts and emotional reactions Practical strategies to increase engagement, improve concentration and boost productivity Practice of mindfulness techniques Integration of mindfulness into the working day.
